Hundreds of people from Iapmala village were provided medical check up at a free camp organised by the Kyrmen Foundation Center (KFC) after residents fell ill after attending a community feast organised on New Year.
KFC secretary Simi Khongtiang said that her members were able to attend to the villagers soon after they fell ill after the feast from January 2 by rushing them to the Khliehriat CHC for medical attention.
It may be mentioned that 160 people developed diarrhoea and vomiting after consuming pork at the feast. Doctors at the hospital did not rule out food poisoning as all of them developed similar symptoms and attended the same feast.
Kongthiang said members of the foundation are on an alert to ensure that villagers get immediate attention.
