Shillong, Aug 27: A worker was allegedly abducted by suspected Bangladeshi nationals at Wahkoh under Umkiang PPP, East Jaintia Hills police said today.
The worker, Kornal Ahmed was found on the roadside with injuries, including a deep wound on his right wrist. He was shifted to Umkiang PHC.
Police said enquiry revealed that Ahmed had gone to Wahkoh with Gopal Marak and Jakir Hussain to collect Rs 2 lakh on instructions of Allim Uddin of Jalalpur, Assam.
Marak was detained at Pyrtakuna and said Allim had given them a contact number.
At Wahkoh, as Ahmed approached the contacts, 3-5 machete-armed persons emerged from the jungle and held him, while the other two fled towards Umkiang.
Police said enquiry is on.
