The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Shillong Law College, St. Claret School, Umkdait Nongmensong and the National Institute of Technology.
The programme was conducted to promote the rights and well-being of Persons with Disabilities in all the areas of society and development.
Held under the theme, “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future,” the celebration calls on the world to take further steps towards ensuring that PwDs are given equal opportunities to lead and contribute to societal progress.
Aids and appliances and Niramaya cards were distributed to PWDs on the occasion. Games and sports, cultural programmes, role play were the highlights of the day.
CRC- Shillong is a service institution set under the administrative control of Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack, Odisha , Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MSJE) set up with the aim of creating and developing resources and services required for PwDs in Meghalaya.
