Umsning MLA Dr Celestine Lyngdoh and officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and local village leaders inspected a 5km road that will be blacktopped soon in Saiden village today.
The project, sanctioned on an estimated budget of Rs 2.65 crore is meant to serve the people in the long-term but also facilitate the smooth celebration of the Ri Bhoi Sepngi Presbytery’s silver jubilee in February 2025.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Lyngdoh highlighted the road’s poor condition. “The primary objective of this road project is to improve daily commutes for residents while ensuring that preparations for the silver jubilee are seamless,” he added.
The MLA further informed that the PWD has assured timely commencement of the roadworks with the aim of completing it well before the silver jubilee.
