Shillong, Aug 27: A man has been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment for stabbing a person at Sohra in 2023.
Stephan Khongtim was convicted by Additional DC (Judicial) Benzee Laitmon on July 29, said SP Vivek Syiem.
An FIR was lodged at Sohra PS on March 21, 2023, that Khongtim had stabbed the complainant on February 24. He was arrested and charge sheeted on April 28.
The court sentenced him to five years rigorous imprisonment (RI) with Rs 20,000 fine under section 307 IPC and two years RI with Rs 5,000 fine under section 326 IPC.
has already undergone 2 years, 5 months, 16 days and will serve another 2 years, 1 month, 20 days.
The case was investigated by SI Habanjop Khonglah.
