The Non-Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) today submitted a memorandum to Governor Satya Pal Malik raising objections to the deputation of Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
While a secretary to the GHADC can be appointed by the Chairman or Chief Executive Member, what the employees are upset about is that the post of secretary has invariably gone to an MCS officer instead of one of the GHADC’s own staff.
“The appointment is completely against the rule and undermines the officials of the GHADC and deprives them of the opportunity. We strongly object to this move and ask for your instructions to be meted out to the state government over the appointment of secretary to the GHADC,” they told the Governor.
