Shillong, Jul 14: Chief Minister Shri Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday reviewed several flagship infrastructure projects currently under construction in New Shillong.
During the inspection, he visited sites including the new secretariat complex, Unity Mall, and the sports complex at Umsawli.
At the new secretariat complex, the chief minister assessed the pace of construction and highlighted the necessity for upholding the highest quality standards while ensuring timely completion. Once finished, the secretariat is poised to serve as a state-of-the-art administrative hub that consolidates government departments, fostering better coordination and efficiency in citizen-centric governance.
In addition to the secretariat, the Chief Minister also reviewed the Unity Mall, designed to provide a unique platform for Meghalaya’s artisans, weavers, and local entrepreneurs to market their products. This initiative aims to uplift local businesses, strengthen tourism, and create sustainable job opportunities.
Furthermore, during his visit to the sports complex at Umsawli, he reaffirmed the government’s dedication to establishing top-tier sporting infrastructure for the youth, thereby nurturing talent and promoting Meghalaya as a sports hub.
A statement from the CM’s office said the government remains committed to ensuring the timely completion of these transformative projects so that citizens can benefit from modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure at the earliest.
