Shillong, Jul 4: The NEHU Tura Campus Staff Welfare Association has decided to suspend its ongoing agitation following a discussion with the university administration during a recent video conference with the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor on July 1.
During the meeting, the university authorities assured the association that it would address several long-standing service-related issues.
In a letter to the VC, the association stated it is suspending the protest with immediate effect based on those assurances. It however made clear that the suspension is temporary and the agitation will resume if the administration does not act within a reasonable time.
The staff welfare association has been demanding implementation of DoPT orders, review of promotions and demotions, gratuity benefits, EPF registration for eligible staff and timely salary payments for casual employees.
The association also urged the university not to take any disciplinary or punitive action against employees who participated in the protest.
