Shillong, Jul 14: Nearly 20 lakh enumeration forms for the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of electoral rolls have been distributed to voters in Meghalaya as of today, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer, BDR Tiwari, has informed.
Out of a total 23,49,645 electors, 19,91,883 enumeration forms had been distributed as of Tuesday morning, achieving an overall 84.77 percent coverage. In addition, 5,64,610 (24.03 per cent) enumeration forms had been digitised.
Among the districts, West Jaintia Hills recorded the highest enumeration form distribution at 98.94 per cent, followed by South West Garo Hills (97.77 per cent), North Garo Hills (95.12 per cent), South West Khasi Hills (90.37 per cent) and East Garo Hills (88.84 per cent).
In terms of digitisation, East Jaintia Hills led the state with 41.55 percent, followed by South West Khasi Hills (40.31 per cent), Eastern West Khasi Hills (36.73 per cent), South West Garo Hills (34.01 per cent) and West Garo Hills (33.23 per cent).
Speaking to reporters, Tiwari urged voters to cooperate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) during their house-to-house visits or avail the online digital submission facility to fill, digitally sign and submit their enumeration forms.
Appreciating the efforts of the election machinery, Tiwari commended the dedication of the District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, BLOs, BLO Supervisors and all election officials for their commitment towards the successful implementation of the SIR across the state.
