In another case that points to massive manipulation on the part of the outgoing school management committee (SMC) of Rajabala Higher Secondary School, two teachers were recruited despite the authorities only advertising for one post.
The matter came to light after the ad-hoc SMC informed the district authorities of the matter. Furthermore, three applicants for the post of science teacher in the school shot off complaints to the authorities alleging that they were not given enough time to be able to attend the interview.
According to information received, the post for an assistant teacher had been advertised late last year. The applicants that provided their resume were not even given an acknowledgement slip of their application.
One of the complainants, Rohit Alom, said he had been given less than 24 hours’ notice ahead of the interview. As he was out of town, there was no chance he could make it back in time but attempts to reschedule the interview were turned down by the school.
The case of another complainant was similar, though he added that even after the interview there was no publication of the results. To make matters worse, instead of one assistant science teacher, two appointments were made.
