With the objective to develop innovative solutions to resolve issues that are critical roadblocks towards civil societies and eradicate poverty, the Piramal Foundation, in collaboration with the district administration of Ri-Bhoi and NITI Aayog, today organised the first ever NGO conclave in the district here.
More than 15 local civil societies and NGOs from Ri-Bhoi took part in the conclave to discuss and share their experiences of various fields and development they are working on, especially in building and transforming the community at large.
Speaking to reporters, Toiba Sultana, the senior programme manager of the foundation, said that this is the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upliftment of the societies to eliminate poverty towards improving primary healthcare and nutrition, education and leadership, women and youth empowerment and enabling access to safe drinking water and the foundation is working at the grassroots to understand the problems faced by the people.
“We are working in all 112 aspirations districts (of which Ri-Bhoi is one) across the country with many projects and this is the platform where we meet all the local NGOs who understand better the problems of the people and the foundation can help raise funds by connecting the local NGOs and civil societies for funds by big corporates and funders,” Sultana said.
