The United Democratic Party (UDP) in North Garo Hills has elected Rakman Ch Marak as the new district president at the annual general meeting held in Bajengdoba recently.
The other office bearers of the party in the district are Elberth Marak and Baldap Sangma as vice presidents, Nycil G Momin (secretary), Tengsrang G Momin and Hareshwar Rabha (joint secretaries), Heroine G Momin (treasurer), Arjun D Shira and Bogat G Momin (auditors).
The newly elected president in a press statement today said that the party hopes to strengthen the party from the grassroots level so that the regional force will impact the coming state general assembly elections in 2023.
“We learnt that after the differences between the Congress and AITC, political development in Garo Hills especially in North Garo Hills is giving the UDP an advantage,” Marak said.
