Shillong, Sep 29: The A’chik Statehood Organisation (ASONG) has alleged unauthorised hill cutting and large-scale removal of boulders along the NH-217 Dainadubi-Darugiri stretch under Bharatmala and NHIDCL.
In a complaint to the Deputy Commissioners of East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills the group has sought immediate physical verification and stern legal action since huge quantities of rock material are being excavated and transported beyond the sanctioned alignment and DPR, raising concerns over misuse of minor minerals and loss of government revenue.
ASONG has urged the district administrations to conduct an immediate joint inspection along with NHIDCL and the Mining and Geology Department to verify the actual excavation against approved plans, record exact chainage and GPS coordinates, measure the quantity of boulders removed, and check the source, utilization, royalty payments, transport challans, environmental clearances and mining permissions.
It has also demanded immediate stoppage of any unauthorised extraction and initiation of stern action including penalty, recovery of government revenue, seizure of materials and vehicles, and criminal prosecution if violations are established.
