The total number of recoveries from Covid-19 in Meghalaya reached 60,375 today and the recovery rate climbed above 90 per cent once again.
Statewide there were 521 new infections, 572 recoveries and seven fatalities due to the disease recorded today.
Four deaths were in East Khasi Hills, one in South West Garo Hills, one in East Jaiñtia Hills and one in South West Khasi Hills. All seven were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 238 new cases today (its highest figure in a week), West Khasi Hills 80, West Garo Hills 79, South West Khasi Hills 44, West Jaiñtia Hills 24, Ri-Bhoi 19, North Garo Hills 10, South Garo Hills nine, East Garo Hills eight, South West Garo Hills six and East Jaiñtia Hills four.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 121 recoveries, West Garo Hills 112, West Jaiñtia Hills 91, Ri-Bhoi 78, South West Khasi Hills 51, West Khasi Hills 46, East Jaiñtia Hills 42, North Garo Hills 16, South Garo Hills eight, East Garo Hills four and South West Garo Hills three.
There are now 5,516 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 2,132 active cases, West Garo Hills 783, West Khasi Hills 758, West Jaiñtia Hills 563, Ri-Bhoi 553, South West Khasi Hills 294, East Jaiñtia Hills 129, North Garo Hills 87, East Garo Hills 86, South Garo Hills 70 and South West Garo Hills 61.
In all, Meghalaya has had 67,016 Covid-19 cases, of which 5,516 are active, 60,375 have recovered and 1,125 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has risen to 90.09 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.68 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases dipped to 571.71 and declined for new deaths to 11.00.
