Shillong, Aug 10: Two NSS volunteers from the School of Allied Health Sciences, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), secured the top two prizes at the state-level inter-college poster competition held to mark World No Tobacco Day 2026.
Ribashisha Nongrum won the first prize and Wedangchi N. Marak won the second prize.
The competition was held on August 7, 2026 at Windermere Resort, Umpling, Shillong.
Organised by the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) under NHM, Directorate of Health Services, Government of Meghalaya, this year’s theme was “Tobacco: Business of Death.”
The event aimed to encourage youth to creatively spread awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco use.
MLCU said the achievement reflects the students’ creativity and commitment to social awareness. As NSS volunteers, their success highlights the role of youth in promoting public health messages.
The School of Allied Health Sciences and MLCU congratulated both students for using their talents to support the message of a tobacco-free society.
