The first ever ‘Namo’ Kabaddi tournament was organised by the BJP Meghalaya Kisan Morcha in coordination with the BJP National Kisan Morcha in two districts of the state on December 20.
The tournament which was aimed to promote the sport of Kabaddi among the youth and foster a spirit of sportsmanship and unity was held in Sohra Sub-Division and Ri Bhoi district.
Shyam Shundor, in-charge BSF Bholaganj Post, encouraged the participants and raised the moral of the players in Sohra and Ekhel Marwein, Principal Ramakrishna Mission Bholaganj, expressed his pleasure and wished all the participants a great career ahead. He said such tournament was a first of its kind in Meghalaya and thanked the managing committee for their efforts.
President of BJp Meghalaya Kisan Morcha, Ralden Bryan Shabong stated, “Our endeavour is to unearth sporting talent from the rural regions and promote them, create a valuable bank of sportsmen for the state and nation.”
BJP Meghalaya was also represented at the tournament in Ri-Bhoi by State General Secretary Evarist Myrching, BJYM President Mewaker Lyngdoh, BJYM General Secretary Joydeep Ghosh, District President of BJP Ri Bhoi Sen Thabah and President Ri Bhoi District Kissan Morcha Munim Raja. Other mandal presidents from Ri Bhoi District along with the Mahila Morcha members were also present at the event.
