A foundation stone for construction of a 30-bedded integrated Ayush hospital at Mookyndur was laid by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar today.
During his speech, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment towards various developments works including health care service for the welfare of the community.
He also expressed his gratitude to Mookyndur village for generously donating five acre land for the construction of the hospital. He said the Ayush hospital will benefit not only the people of the area but also those in the adjoining villages.
Dhar urged all those involved to expedite the work so that the essential healthcare be provided
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said the institution will provide Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathic health care to the people particularly non-communicable diseases and ailments that require long term treatment.
She expressed her appreciation to Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Jobam Beda for his efforts in expediting the process and for recognising and understanding the need of having such an institution in the area that will deliver health care service to the community.
Lyngdoh also underscored the urgency to fast-track selection procedures of the doctors for timely staffing. She shared her observation that a significant number of Ayush doctors and students pursuing studies in the field are from Jaintia hills. She said having doctors from the district not only ensures a deeper understanding of local health challenges but also strengthen the bond between health care providers and community they serve.
