Shillong, Jun 7: Health and Family Welfare Minister Wailadmiki Shylla yesterday inspected the Ummulong Community Health Centre ahead of its planned upgrade to an ‘integrated hospital’.
The CHC’s upgrades will cost an estimated Rs 53 crore.
The minister assessed ground conditions and began discussions for preparing the detailed project report (DPR), a key step before tenders are floated.He said that he wants construction to start “at the earliest for the benefit of the public.” Once upgraded, the integrated hospital will cater to villages under Thadlaskein and Namdong blocks. Shylla was accompanied by the Medical Officer in charge of Ummulong CHC, local village leaders and officials from the Health Engineering wing during the inspection.
