Shillong, Jun 18:Meghalaya Police are expected to begin another round of recruitment within the next few months to fill around 1,000 vacancies that have accumulated in the force.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home (Police), Prestone Tynsong, said this today, adding that the vacancies emerged after the recent recruitment drive in which more than 3,000 posts were filled.
“Now, fresh vacancies have started accumulating and may be around 1,000 or slightly below that. The matter has already been worked out by the Central Recruitment Board,” he said.
The Deputy CM said the board is expected to issue advertisements for recruitment within the next few months.
Meanwhile, Tynsong said the police are also planning to strengthen public awareness programmes on laws and regulations across the state.
He said the government intends to take training programmes, workshops and awareness campaigns to even the remotest villages to help people better understand laws enacted by both the Centre and the state government.
