In its continued drive against illicit liquor, the Excise Department staff of East Khasi Hills conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts where 61 cases were uncovered in February wherein a huge amount of indigenous liquor totalling 1,850.90 litres and 310.955 litres of IMFL were seized.
Thirty-six people were arrested in connection with these cases under the Excise Act, a press release informed today.
The cases are under different stages of investigation/prosecution.
