Shillong, Oct 8: Deputy Chief Minister in charge Commerce & Industries Sniawbhalang Dhar said the International Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) 2.0 is a new door of opportunity for Meghalaya’s entrepreneurs to partner with national and global markets.
Inaugurating the two-day meet at the State Convention Centre here, Dhar said Meghalaya, with its abundant natural resources, skilled artisans, agri products and 440-km border with Bangladesh, is a strategic gateway to South and Southeast Asia.
He said the first RBSM in February resulted in 40 MoUs worth over Rs 3 crore with participation from 15 countries.
“Today, our vision is not only to produce more but also to market better, brand better and reach customers across India and abroad,” Dhar said, while urging local entrepreneurs and international delegates to exchange ideas and learn from each other.
Dhar said the government is committed to improving policies, moving to automated business processes, expanding infrastructure and leveraging the tourism sector.
Organised under the RAMP Scheme of the Ministry of MSME by the Department of Commerce & Industries in association with FIEO, RBSM 2.0 brings together 395 local MSMEs with 32 international and domestic buyers from the US, Bangladesh, Canada, Uganda, Mauritius, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, UK and Kenya.
The meet is expected to open new markets for nearly 98,000 registered MSMEs in the state.
