Two drug couriers were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning near Khliehriat after being intercepted by police.
Based on credible information, police set up a roadblock and found the two suspected couriers on an Assam-registered tourist bus (AS 01 IC 7641) proceeding from Silchar. The duo, identified as Lhingneivah Singson (35) and Lalrohluo Hmar (38).
Six soap cases were found concealed on Singson’s person containing 65.92g of heroin. Rs 5,000 in cash was also seized by police from the pair.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the duo and further investigations are ongoing.
