Shillong, Oct 8: St Anthony’s College, Shillong, celebrated its Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, honouring academic achievement, leadership and service.
The ceremony highlighted strong results in the 2026 examinations. Fishery Science topped undergraduate pass percentage at 96.88 per cent, followed by Biochemistry at 91.67 per cent, Political Science at 90.68 per cent, Zoology at 90.63 per cent and English at 90.16 per cent.
At the postgraduate level, MA Education, MA Political Science, MSc Biotechnology and MCA recorded 100 per cent pass. The college gave Academic Excellence Awards to 29 students and produced six NEHU rank holders in 2025 in Biotechnology, MCA, Education and Political Science.
The highlight was the Student of the Year Award 2026 to Kaushik Migom Pegu of the Geology department. Pegu secured A+ with 77.8 per cent aggregate, bagged All India Rank 326 in IIT JAM and earned admission to MSc Applied Geology at IIT Bombay.
The college also felicitated nine faculty members who received PhD degrees in 2026 and eight faculty members completing 25 years of service.
East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh who attended the ceremony as the chief guest, recalled her long association with the institution and said she had witnessed a milestone when opportunities were opened for women in the Salesian learning centre.
Urging graduates to go beyond personal success, she called on them to become socially responsible and environmentally conscious citizens and use their education for the betterment of society.
The college described the graduation not just as conferring degrees but as celebration of perseverance, scholarship and service, reaffirming the college’s commitment to nurturing character along with competence.
