Shillong, Oct 8: The rally against the Shillong Ropeway project and protection of the Lum Shyllong catchment area has been postponed from October 10 by a week.
The joint action committee (JAC) that had planned the rally made the announcement today.
The rally will be held to express public concern regarding the proposed ropeway and to reiterate the collective call for protection and preservation of the Lum Shyllong catchment.
As per the revised schedule, the rally will be held on October 17 from 10am onwards. The route will be from Last Stop Market Main Road to the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project Site at Madan Laban.
The JAC has appealed to residents, supporters, senior citizens, youth, civil society members and concerned citizens to take note of the revised date and participate in a peaceful, disciplined and democratic manner.
