A resident of Gudibala, Omar Faruq, has filed a police complaint as well as written to the chief engineer of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) over a live electric wire that sits just inches his rooftop.
The complaint was filed against the manager of FEDCO, which has been looking after electricity around the Phulbari and Dadenggre area.
The matter had earlier been raised by the same complainant more than two years ago after his neighbour lost his life after accidentally touching the high tension wire while repairing his roof.
“The wire lies just inches above our roofs and despite several complaints nothing has been done to rectify the same. Everyone in the village is currently at risk due to the low nature of the overhead wires,” said Faruq.
Faruq requested that the wire be shifted to another place so that the danger posed to residents can be averted.
