Mawkyrwat, Jul 15: South West Khasi Hills police arrested a 62-year-old man, Bailing Wahlang in connection with the murder of his sister, Snity Wahlang.
The body of the 56-year-old victim was discovered with multiple stab injuries yesterday.
After going missing since the incident, Bailing Wahlang was tracked down and apprehended at Rohbah village by local village heads.
Police said a team of the Mawkyrwat women police station went to the dorbar hall of Pyndenumsaw village, where the accused was kept and took him into custody.
According to police, during his medical examination at the civil hospital in Mawkyrwat, Wahlang admitted to committing the crime. His clothing and blood samples were collected as evidence.
Following the completion of his medical check, he was brought to the Mawkyrwat women police station, where he was formally charged with murder.
During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed his involvement in the crime and expressed his willingness to assist the police in recovering the weapon used in the crime, police said.
