The Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills has reminded the public that “brutal and unkind use of animals for public entertainment” is prohibited.
Specifically, the DC mentioned animal fights, with bullfights between opposing animals a traditional pastime.
The ban is in keeping with the provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960.
