Shillong, Aug 13: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong, in association with the Eastern West Khasi Hills district administration, organised an integrated communication and outreach programme on the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on Thursday at Mairang Presbyterian Higher Secondary School.
The programme began with a Tiranga rally flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner M. Diengdoh. Students, officials, teachers and members of the public participated in the rally from the school to the nearby market to spread the message of patriotism, unity in diversity and a drug-free India.
Addressing the gathering, Diengdoh urged citizens to display the National Flag at homes, schools and offices as part of Har Ghar Tiranga. He called the Tricolour a symbol of India’s unity and asked youth to carry the spirit of patriotism into daily life.
On Nasha Mukt Bharat, Diengdoh encouraged students to make healthy choices and become ambassadors for a drug-free lifestyle in their families and communities.
Principal C. War stressed the role of schools in nurturing responsible citizens, while resource person Sub Inspector E. Marbaniang spoke on the dangers of substance abuse and early warning signs.
The event also featured a patriotic dance competition, along with art and quiz contests. Winners were felicitated.
Officials said the programme aimed to take the messages of the Tricolour and a Nasha Mukt Bharat from schools to homes and communities.
