The Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Amlarem has banned fishing by poisoning and use of dynamite and washing of vehicles in rivers, streams and other water bodies within the sub division.
The order was passed to prevent mass destruction of aquatic bodies has endangered the local, indigenous fish population, flora and fauna besides undermining the local ecology.
The sub-division has reported unrelenting practice of the clandestine or traditional convention of poisoning of water bodies and resulted in unprecedented law and order situation, the sub-divisional magistrate said in the order.
