The Entrepreneurship Development Centre at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) here, in collaboration with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi and Samsung, organised an orientation workshop on ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ for young budding innovators in the 14-22 age group on Monday.
The event was attended by students, faculty members, school children and young entrepreneurs. The workshop aimed to empower attendees with problem-solving, critical thinking and ideation skills through hands-on ‘Design Thinking’ methodologies.
In his opening remarks, Prof Dinesh Bhatia, Head of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, highlighted the importance of such events in the context of promoting entrepreneurship, startup and innovation educational institutes as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and how the outcomes from such events would be beneficial for the society in the long-run. He also thanked Samsung and the IIT Delhi team for hosting the event in Meghalaya.
Vanita Vasudev from FITT, IIT Delhi presented the different themes chosen for this year, which include ‘AI for safer, smarter and inclusive Bharat’; ‘Social change through Sport & Tech: For Education and Better Futures; Future of health, hygiene and wellbeing in India’; and ‘Environmental sustainability via technology’.
She answered specific queries from the participants with regards to the competition. Prizes and awards were handed over to attendees who participated in the different interactive sessions. A special award was presented by Samsung to the NEHU team comprising Bashankur Buhroy and Eleazer who had competed last year in the Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ challenge 2024 and stood in the top 50 from across India.
