Shillong, May 24: The body of Kresitha Gabil Momin, a violin teacher from Rongjeng who died in Dubai on May 21, arrived in Delhi this morning on an Air Arabia flight after Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma intervened to help repatriate her remains.
Momin (41), who taught at Arab Unity School in Dubai, suffered a cardiac arrest on May 15 and was admitted to Mirdif Private Hospital. She died on May 21 due to renal failure, hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis.
With no relatives holding a passport to travel to Dubai, the grieving family approached Rongjeng MLA Jim M Sangma. He sought help from the CM, who directed Chief Secretary Shakil P Ahammed to coordinate the repatriation.
Jim Sangma thanked the CM, Chief Secretary, the Indian Embassy in Dubai and others for swift facilitation. He also credited Issac Shadap, a Meghalaya resident working in Dubai, who was authorised by the family to take charge of the mortal remains.
Momin’s mortal remains will be buried in her home town.
