The NEEPCO Tribal Employees’ Welfare Association (NTEWA) along with NEEPCO Women Welfare Association (NWWA) has condemned the petrol bomb attack on a police escort.
According to reports, the police vehicle was escorting (Retd) Maj Gen RK Jha, NEEPCO Director (Personnel), who was on his way to his residence at Laitkor.
According to the associations, Jha is a distinguished person whose empathy, since joining NEEPCO, has been palpable, and who has been tirelessly working to secure NEEPCO’s goodwill as well as development schemes, including projects, in the state of Meghalaya and in the region as a whole.
Jha has also been working towards the general wellbeing of the local employees of North East as a whole and of Shillong, in particular.
“We register our strongest protest to this dastardly act which negates the very aspirations of the general populace of Meghalaya,” both associations said in a joint press statement.
The associations also urged upon the administration to address the issue immediately and bring the culprits to book.
