The office of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) Shillong, in collaboration with Minotlang self-help group, conducted a one day awareness programme on Saturday to celebrate National Integration Day in remembrance of the first female Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, at Umpling.
All members of Minotlang, together with the youth of the community, took part in the programme.
NYKS volunteer B Lyngdoh spoke about the foundation of NYKS by Gandhi in 1972 with the objective of developing the personality and leadership qualities of the youth and to engage them in nation-building activities.
The resource person, Evangeline Lyngdoh, delivered a lecture on Gandhi about her life’s journey and contribution towards the country to enhance peace, love and unity among all the people.
