One Shaiphir Khasain Shabong was sentenced to 14 years in a POCSO case last week by the SG Momin, Special Judge (POCSO, here.
Shabong was found guilty under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. This section relates to aggravated penetrative sexual assault on a child. He received punishment of rigorous imprisonment of 14 years and a fine of Rs 15,000.
The convicted felon also received another 14-year sentence and Rs 15,000 fine under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code. This section of the IPC deals with rape. Shabong was also sentenced to two years and a fine of Rs 5,000 for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC.
Details of the case were not revealed. The case was investigated by WPSI L Kharjana of the DEF, who is now posted in Lumdiengjri police station here.
