The driver of an autorickshaw sustained serious injuries after his vehicle was suddenly hit by a truck, which then fled the scene after the accident.
The incident occurred last night at around 11pm near Bethany Hospital in Pahamsyiem near here. The autorickshaw (ML 10B 8655) was being driven by one Ricky Lyngdoh when it was struck by an unidentified truck while returning from Nongpoh.
Lyngdoh suffered severe injuries in the accident and the truck driver immediately fled the scene. Following the incident, the injured rickshaw driver was taken to Bethany Hospital for medical treatment.
Ri-Bhoi police have launched an investigation into the matter and are making efforts to track down the truck involved in the hit-and-run.
