Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla inaugurated modern Ultrasound and X-Ray machines installed at the Lumshnong PHC.
The medical equipment was procured through the District Mineral Funding Trust (DMFT).
Speaking on the occasion, Shylla thanked the DMFT committee for bringing in the much needed equipments that would provide medical care to the needy sections of the society. She said history has been made because primary health care centres usually do not have x-machines, except for the community health centres.
Shylla said there are many infrastructural deficiencies in the Lumshnong PHC and assured to look into them for its improvement.
East Jaiñtia Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jonathan Shylla said that a new room will soon be constructed to place the medical equipments. He said under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner, the DMFT will also look into the needs of the 36 sub centres within the district, especially in providing better facilities to cater to pregnant mothers.
Waheh Shnong of Lumshnong Monlang Ladong said people from far flung areas will no longer travel to Silchar, Shillong or Guwahati to get these facilities.
