Shillong, Jul 24: The court of B. Khriam, Special Judge (POCSO), East Jaintia Hills has convicted one Jimi Bareh for sexual assault on a minor.
In its verdict on July 21, 2026, the court sentenced the man to undergo 22 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.
The case was registered at Khliehriat Women PS under Section 376(2)(f) IPC read with Sections 5(f)(ii)/5(n)/6 of the POCSO Act, 2012 and was investigated by Inspector O. Tyngkan.
The chargesheet was filed on November 18, 2021.
