The Lumshnong dorbar is following the developments in the area very closely and is deeply concerned by the violence that broke out, Waheh Shnong Monlang Ladong said, urging police to be vigilant of such acts.
A violent outbreak occurred in Lumshnong on Sunday as a mob set fire to trucks belonging to Star Cement sparked by an accident that killed a pick-up truck driver.
Ladong said the dorbar is also monitoring the situation and held a meeting with the police and the company. He said the deceased pick-up truck driver identified as Sniawbhalang Suchiang hails from the village.
He said the village is saddened by the incident and hopeful that no such untoward incidents take place in the future.
Management representative of the company Devander Bansal stated that Suchiang had chased the truck driven by one Sailangmi Dkhar from Wahiajer. When he reached gate-1 of the company, Suchiang climbed onto the frontal area of the truck while it was moving and fell, leading to his death, he claimed.
Following the incident Bansal said, Dkhar fled the scene and miscreants took advantage of the situation. He said employees are not feeling safe after the incident, which has affected the functioning of the plant.
