Shillong, Apr 17: PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Umroi Cantonment today conducted a book exchange programme aimed at facilitating the easy availability of textbooks for the upcoming academic session.
This initiative not only promotes the optimal use of educational resources but also fosters a community spirit among students.
During the programme, students were encouraged to voluntarily deposit their old books into the school library. This collection creates a pool of resources from which other students can choose the textbooks they require.
The initiative significantly reduces the financial burden on parents, who typically face rising costs associated with purchasing new textbooks for their children and also cultivates a culture of sharing and cooperation among students.
School librarian Krishna Nand Singh emphasised the importance of such initiatives in fostering reading habits and promoting environmental sustainability through the reuse of books.
