Shillong, Apr 17: The All Selsella NGOs Alliance has petitioned Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma seeking the removal of the Garobhada PWD (Roads) Sub-Division Officer, accusing the officer of negligence and substandard road work.
Stating that the people of Selsella have been enduring extreme hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the Garobhada-Selsella road, the groups said despite numerous requests and formal appeals to the PWD office to inspect and rectify the situation, pleas have consistently fallen on deaf ears.
The group highlighted that the road has undergone repairs twice but did not even last for a single month. “This indicates a massive waste of public funds and a total lack of technical supervision,” it said.
While the office has shown a blatant disregard for public safety and convenience despite the recurring failure of the road surface, the group said no accountability has been fixed, and the officer has failed to provide a durable solution.
The group has set seven days for the state government to remove the officer.
