The Garo Omniscience for Ethic Renaissance and Awakening (GOERA), Dainadubi Regional Unit, has filed a complaint against a National Highway road construction company operating in Satmile, Wageasi, alleging the discharge of partially decomposed human waste into the Manda River.
In a letter to the company’s General Manager, GOERA claimed that waste from temporary latrines is being directly released into the river, posing serious health risks to downstream communities reliant on the river for drinking water and daily use.
The group stated that human excreta requires at least six months to fully decompose, whereas the company’s waste is only partially decomposed, endangering lives.
