A protest by people of Narpuh has forced the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to begin repair works of the National Highway 6 today.
On Monday people along with representatives of some pressure groups disrupted traffic flow after they halted vehicles passing through the highway at Kuliang after their pleas remained unheard.
Workers of NHAI today filled potholes with mud and stones from Narpuh to Sonapur. People however felt that mere filling up will not be enough as these will be washed away.
It may be mentioned that the NHAI said that work on National Highway-6 to repair the damage caused during the recent monsoon would be completed by December 15.
The NHAI informed this during the hearing of a PIL filed by Kynjaimon Amse in the Meghalaya High Court.
