Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw attention to the sharp increase in the price of sugar, which has reportedly reached around Rs 80 per kilogramme in many parts of India.
Sugar is an essential commodity used in almost every household. The rise in its price has placed an additional burden on ordinary people, especially poor and middle-class families who are already struggling with the increasing cost of food and other daily necessities.
The government should take immediate steps to investigate the reasons behind this price rise and prevent hoarding and black marketing. Proper monitoring of the supply chain and effective action against unscrupulous traders are necessary to ensure that sugar remains affordable.
I hope the concerned authorities will take urgent action to control prices and provide relief to consumers.
