Shillong, Aug 25: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) has demanded immediate postponement of the District Selection Committee Grade-IV written exam, citing non-declaration of previous results and alleged irregularities.
In a memorandum to West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, the JSU said candidates who qualified the 2021 Grade-IV written exam appeared for interviews in June 2026, but final results are still pending. Initiating a fresh drive while hundreds await results is unfair and discouraging, it said.
The union flagged lack of transparency in evaluation and shortlisting, claiming candidates securing as low as three marks were called for LDA interviews, with similar concerns over Grade-IV marks, answer scripts and shortlisting criteria.
It also pointed out that fairness of DSC exams is sub-judice before Meghalaya High Court, with the State directed to file an affidavit, and proceeding with new exams risks compounding legal complications.
The JSU demanded that the current notification be kept in abeyance till the previous cycle concludes, early declaration of 2021 final results, publication of mark breakups, cut-offs and evaluation criteria, and alignment of all recruitment with High Court directions.
