The East Khasi Hills local complaints committee for the implementation of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Preventive, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 has been reconstituted, a notification informed.
The Chairperson is D Kharshiing, Additional Deputy Commissioner of EKH. Eleven nodal officers have been appointed – all Block Development Officers within the district. They are T Marwein (Mylliem), KT Nongsteng (Mawphlang), AL Bareh (Mawsynram), A Lyngdoh (Mawryngkneng), G Dhar (Mawkynrew), L Kharmon (Pynursla), AR Kynta (Shella Bholaganj), WK Kharbuli (Khatarshnong Laitkroh), CJK Warjri (Sohiong), S Phanbuh (Mawpat) and DS Lyngdoh (Mawlai).
Special members are Ebhamiki War Pakyntein, a legal officer, and two representatives of civil society organisations – Mayfereen Ryntathiang of Grassroot Shillong and Rebina Subba of Shamakami NGO. The ex-officio member is E Kharchandy, the District Social Welfare Officer of EKH.
The committee is tasked with receiving complaints of sexual harassment from establishments where the Internal Complaints Committee has not been constituted due to having less than 10 workers or the complaint is against the employer himself.
The Chairperson and every member shall hold office for a period not exceeding three years from the date of their appointment.
