Shillong, Aug 21: Dr. Deepak Rajan, One Health Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Shillong, won the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Conference on Public Health 2026 held in Bali, Indonesia.
He received the award for his research paper titled ‘Seroprevalence and Risk Factors of Leptospirosis in Meghalaya: An Eco-epidemiological Community-Based Cross-Sectional Study.’
The study is part of a collaborative project between IIPH Shillong, ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region, Umiam, and Christian Medical College, Vellore.
The research examines how human, animal and environmental factors increase the risk of leptospirosis infection. It aims to improve understanding of transmission dynamics to support better prevention and control measures in Meghalaya.
Officials said the award marks another significant achievement for IIPH Shillong and reflects the institute’s commitment to research, innovation and capacity building in public health.
