A poor family in Domjyrti village under South West Khasi Hills District will now cherish their dream of a safe home after an organisation, Leh-Isynei-Lem from nearby Mawten village donated them a house in their bid to help the poor.
Santimerry Nongsiej, a single mother was living in a thatch house with five children.
The organisation then decided to generously donate a home for the family using their resources and spent around Rs 2 lakh. Interestingly, all its 26 members took the task even as workers to construct the house beginning July.
The house was today inaugurated by president of Leh-Isynei-Lem KL Lyngdoh in the presence of members of the dorbar shnong Domjyrti. He said that the organisation was recently formed aimed to help the poor and needy families by not by distinguishing them from religion, caste or creed.
Lyngdoh said his organisation has been able to lend a helping to many families during the lockdown.
Secretary of Domjyrti, Wesparland Lyngdoh Tongkhar and Secretary of Leh-Isynei-Lem, J. Lyngdoh were also present on the occasion.
