A major fire broke out in Laitumkhrah market early this morning destroying about 84 stalls in it.
No casualties were reported in the inferno that broke out around 4:30 am. Three fire tenders doused the blaze after several hours of firefight.
According to reports, a short circuit is suspected.
Local MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. She said she will discuss the relocation of affected vendors.
