Four women from Ri Bhoi district were today felicitated by the KVK-Ri Bhoi ICAR, RC for NEH Region Umiam for their achievements in entrepreneurship to celebrate International Women’s Day.
These women are Arbis Nongbri from Umroi Labansaro, Dial Muktieh from Khweng, Plenty Makri from Thadnongiaw and Bihrit Nongrum from Umden Umsaitprah.
The programme was also attended by 30 women entrepreneur from a number of SHGs in the district who were welcomed by Principal Scientist and Head of KVK- Ri Bhoi, Dr M. Islam Principal.
One of the achievers, Plenty Makri highlighted the different roles played by women and narrated her achievements. She formed the Self Help Group entitled “Little Blossom Training cum production centre” and encouraged other women to be leaders with a strong motive and have full confidence in themselves in various aspects and to be proud as a farmer.
Others who spoke were Eliza C. Syiemlieh, C.T.O, B. Mukhim A.C.T.O (Fishery) and Meghna Sarma, C.T.O (Agronomy).
An exhibition cum sale of the products made by the SHGs’ groups was also held on the occasion. The first prize was bagged by Nangkyrsoi SHG, Khweng, second to Arbis Rani and the third and fourth prizes were awarded to Plenty Makri and Tbeh Jingshai SHG, Umden Umsaitprah respectively.
