The Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) today extended support to the Khasi Students Union in the latter’s demand for an inquiry against Jindal (India) Ltd for allegedly supplying substandard materials for the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district.
The KSU’s Ri-Bhoi unit supposedly discovered on December 15 that pipes supplied by Jindal weighed only 6.05kg each, less than the contracted 7.38kg, a sign, it said, of substandard quality.
Speaking to the media persons, RBYF publicity secretary, Wanpher Wahlang, said legal action should be taken against the “erring” company as the water connections provided to the public with the lower weight pipes will not last long.
